Leadership in Health System Transformation:
As Provincial Medical Director of Trauma Services, Harvey is modernizing BC’s trauma system with advanced analytics to drive improvements. He has been building effective health systems in various capacities since 2006, including the implementation of a rural trauma system for southern Alberta, training over 150 providers and overall reducing mortality rates. As former Director of ICChange, he led initiatives to secure funding and support for system improvements, notably from Grand Challenges Canada.

Global Health Systems Expertise:
On a global scale, Harvey has direct clinical experience working as a trauma surgeon in diverse regions, including Canada’s extreme north, Fiji, and East Africa. He played a pivotal role in two major initiatives in Kenya:
 
  1. Collaborating with the Kenya Red Cross and Ministry of Health to develop the National Trauma and Injury Framework and Injury Policy.

  2. Introducing the American College of Surgeons’ Advanced Trauma Life Support Course to develop sustainable models for trauma care training, a first for a sub-Saharan African country.

Fatima has experience in biomedical research, operations management, and program execution across Canada, the US, and Pakistan. She brings exceptional cross-disciplinary capacity building expertise to enhance capabilities within organizations, enabling the rapid growth and scale of teams and programs.

Abdullah is the Trauma Director at Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, and founder of Innovative Canadians for Change (ICChange), a social enterprise that pioneers technology-driven, sustainable health initiatives across Africa, focusing on water sanitation, trauma care, and surgical access.

Global Health Systems Experience:
Beyond his clinical practice as a pediatric surgeon, Abdullah has advised and led significant systemic changes globally. He has deployed local trauma registries in both Kenya and Tanzania, and  in Kenya, he advised the Ministry of Health on its eHealth strategy, developed Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for underserved areas, and launched a new Manufacturing School and Social Entrepreneurship Academy, empowering local entrepreneurs and advancing clean water and healthcare solutions.

Dr. Hameed is an experienced trauma surgeon and public health researcher, with a career spanning top institutions in Canada and the U.S., including Harvard, UBC and Stanford. He focuses on advancements in trauma surgery and emergency care, including process improvements, value-based healthcare, and surgical systems redesign. He was one of the founders of T6 Health Systems, a healthcare technology company specializing in real-time, data-driven analytics for emergency and trauma care.

Research on Improving Health Disparities:
His research addresses social determinants of health and disparities in access to high-quality emergency surgical care. He seeks to integrate surgery with data science, organizational theory, public health, and sustainability to advance universal access to high-quality surgical care globally.
